Ambry’s Community Café is “Volunteer led” with over 50 Volunteers working on a rota basis and has a management team of 12 Volunteers who oversee the day-to-day running of the café
Ambry’s had its origins within the local churches of all denominations in the year 2000 with the idea of a village presence which became Ambry’s Café opening in 2001. In its present day format both Volunteers and Customers are now from all walks of life. The Volunteer Team’s attitude being “MORE THAN JUST A CAFE – A COMMUNITY HUB”.
Our aims remain, as in the year 2001, to provide freshly prepared food at reasonable prices; maintain a friendly welcoming atmosphere whether simply visiting for a coffee and a read of the complimentary newspapers; or enjoying a reasonably priced meal. Our “Friday Lunch Special” being extremely popular.
We source all our supplies from local shops and businesses and are committed to contributing to the regeneration and future of Almondbury village and locale.
We are non-party political but provide accommodation for elected local Ward Councillor representatives on the last Wednesday of each month.
This website has been designed and is hosted locally by Sparkie’s Web Ltd at no cost to the café.
Any surplus from running the café is given in grants to support local organisations, projects and local schools, who are working for the good of others.
Our maximum grant amount is £500.
We give approximately £4000-5000 per year to support good causes.
